This Week in Weddings: 2/1/14-2/8/14

Hey friends! Guess what? We're starting a new thing where, every week, we'll recap the best things that we've seen on the web! These will likely be things that we've talked about elsewhere- on Pinterest, Facebook, etc. but there might be some new things mixed in as well. It will just be a cool mashup of all of the week's wedding offerings- in case you missed them. Check back every Sunday for cool new wedding recaps, news, and links to the best of weddings that the web has to offer! So LET'S GET STARTED!

This week had a lot of LOVELY bright colors, and gold. I think we're all sick of this dreadful weather and are trying to recall more colorful time. The lovely bouquet featured above comes from our Fab Flowers board on Pinterest, and is originally from this awesome Russian wedding website

One of my favorite colorful weddings this week, which we talked about on Facebook on Wednesday, was this AMAZING 80's Pop Themed wedding, featured on 100 Layer Cake. This whole wedding is bursting with happy and fun, so I definitely recommend a page through the full gallery.

Something that we have yet to talk about, but is definitely worth discussion, is Zac Posen's new line for David's Bridal. These stunning, elegant, modern dresses are a great option for a high-fashion bride on a budget! Read more about these here, and shop the line when it comes out this month here!

Save the Date

Are you ready to announce your wedding day? Sending out save the dates is a great way to let your guests know about your wedding date in advance.
This allows anyone traveling long distances to start making travel arrangements. They are especially great if your wedding date falls on or around a holiday.

Save the dates should be sent out atleast 4 months in advance. If you are getting married on a holiday or in a busy travel season, save the dates can be sent out sooner.

Things to include on the save the date:
  • Your names
  • Wedding date
  • Wedding website
  • Invitation to follow

You might also want to personalise your save the date with a photograph.

There are many unique types of save the dates. Here I have shown a save the date magnet from MagnetStreet. Guests can place your magnet right on their refrigerator as a constant reminder to save the date!!!

Photo Booth Anyone?

There have been many new trends in the wedding business this season and one I love is the photo booth. It gives your guests the chance to be in the spotlight for a few snapshots. And makes for a unique keepsake. You can rent an actual photo booth from a rental company, or you can hire a photographer to man one for you.

Over Memorial day weekend I was privileged to work with Audra and Greg for their Chicago wedding at Hotel Allegro Chicago. Their photographer William + Patricia Photography created a photo booth for all to enjoy. Take a look at the finished product!
